Speaking of story marketing...

I just got word from [info]ericmarin that he's buying "Gone Daddy Gone" for Lone Star Stories. The story will appear in the April 2009 issue. This is my surf movie / beat retelling of the Swan Maiden myth.

Cool, daddio!

I got word from [info]ericmarin that two of my stories received Honorable Mentions in The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror Vol. 21.

Last year was a slow sales year for me -- I only published four stories -- so I'm pleased to see two of them being recognized. The odd stories out are "Stephanie Shrugs" which has been one of my better received stories according to reader feedback. (Both of you.) The other is "Blood and Oil." Both from Realms of Fantasy.

As for the stories receiving Honorable Mentions, they are:

In the Thicket, With Wolves - Realms of Fantasy

When the Rain Comes - Lone Star Stories

Both of these stories have female protagonists and are written from a female POV. Not sure what that means, but there you go.

Thanks to the eds of YBFH#21 for the kind recognition!

(EDIT: According to my records, Blood and Oil was actually an early '08 publication, so I just had three stories published last year...)
